Today I got hungry like I do every day, arround 1:00pm. Today was slightly different however, since instead of getting crappy fast food, like I usually do, today I felt like Tulsa.The Tulsa Rib Company, of Santa Ana California, makes the absolute best ribs on the planet. Of all the best things that I have eaten in my life, this is tied for #1 with a Filet Mignon from Mortons, and the Chocolate Rasbery Truffle Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Tulsa is about 40 minutes from my house, if I take the toll road, and drive like a maniac. That's 40 minutes of waiting for the smell and 40 minutes salivating from the smell. I ran from my car up the stairs into my apartment, and tore into the bag. I had just enough restraint lay out the food for the picture, and then ravenously ate the meal-for-two that I had gotten. Two delicious cornbread muffins, with a 1/2 inch thick layer of butter, two pounds of seasoned, sliced and fried potatos, and two full racks of ribs, slathered in the best barbeque sauce in the world. I'm now about an hour into my food coma, and loving every minute of it. This is what being a carnivore is about! 2003/08/15 Last night Vanessa and I went to Tulsa for a nice relaxing meal (for me). I ordered the full set of ribs (two full racks) and my normal double cornbread. The cornbread was a bit overcooked, but good anyway. Then the ribs and potatoes. God those little potato slices are good. Coated in oil, and dunked in sauce. Half into my ribs, I just wanted some more corn bread, so I asked the big black guy there (one of the most friendly people around) if he would bring me another corn bread from the next fresh batch. A few minutes later, he brought out my bread, still steaming. It nearly fell apart while cutting and handling it. (A good thing) And after the application of three pads of butter, I was in corn bread heaven. That was the single best corn bread I have ever had! I'd like to thank the cook, the waitresses, and that big guy who said he cooked that bread himself, just for me. That was the best dinner I have had in months! | ||

If you don't like BBQ sauce because it is sweet go for the cajun style spare ribs as they are just as fabulous. Don't forget to order their Tulsa fries and Tabouli. My husband and I think the fries are just as addicting as the ribs. You also get cornbread. Hard to ever find room for dessert though, as all the above is very satisfying. Definately worth the trip! Get there early if you can because there is usually a line and most of the time you have to wait outside because the waiting room is very small. You can always order your food to go and avoid the wait. tiffany taylor (2003-04-29): the tulsa rib co has the best food in the whole world........and i really like their service.They have very cute young ladies that work there and they are soo nice.They deserve a raise. Erik (2003-04-29): They do have very good service, especially in the evening, it seems like everyone works in concert. Should I be looking for a server named Tiffany next time I go? Leroy Gage (2004-09-06): Whereas I agree the ribs are quite succulent, by far the best offering on the menu is the scrumptious homestyle chocolate shake. Unparalleled in this universe. Baskin Robbins, Swensens, Ghiardelli...they all pay homage to the Tulsa Rib Company chocolate shake. Erik (2004-09-06): Really?! I've never had the chocolate shake at Tulsa. I will next time, thanks! Mike (2005-10-16): I agree Tulsa ribs are the best got my parents addicted to them. Picking up a togo order for them(and myself) today. Luckily I live in Westminster, quite abit closer than most of you it takes me like 20 mins to get there. Paul (2006-01-16): I grew up in Orange CA, so I grew up eating Tulsa ribs, loving them, but not knowing any better, I was oblivious to the fact that they were the best ribs in the world. 25 years later, I still eat there at least once every 2 months - I'd go more often, but I'm trying to keep from having too much cholesterol. Kriter (2007-03-01): Here in Tulsa, OK, the PLACE to get ribs is Elmer's on South Peoria. If you liked Tulsa's Ribs, you will die when you taste what TULSAN'S eat!!!
